Prospective graduate students interested in pursuing an academic career in food studies are strongly encouraged to connect with our partners in the Department of History. The Department of History offers a unique concentration called Body, Place, Identity. Thematic fields organize this specialization, so students may focus their research in areas such as Food and the Body, Culture and Everyday Life, Labor and Political Economy, Science, Technology, Medicine, and the Environment.

In addition to that, the Department of History awards a variety of scholarships so graduate students can gain access to high quality training in the field of food history. The Department of History wants to play a prominent role in educating the next generation of food studies scholars, writers, curators, entrepreneurs, and policy makers.
